Content Scheduler
The system I built after posting 27 pieces in 6 days and realizing half of them were the same format.
The Core Problem
You're either not publishing enough (no system) or publishing garbage (no variety). Both kill engagement. This skill solves both by giving you a rotation system, a calendar, and a draft pipeline that actually moves things from "idea" to "live."
Content Rotation — The Engine
Define your types (3-5 works best)
Pick types that match your output. Here's what I use for building a brand:

The rotation rule
Simple: never publish the same type back to back. After each publish, move to the next type in your list. Wrap around after the last one.
This sounds mechanical. It is. But your audience doesn't see the machinery — they experience variety. And variety is what keeps people from muting you.

Key fields:
nextType— prevents decision fatigue. You already know what format you're writing in.todayCount+maxPerDay— prevents flooding. I learned this the hard way: 14 posts in one day triggered a platform throttle that took 3 days to recover from.notes— this is where the learning happens. After a month, you'll see clear patterns in what works.

- Question post on Monday bombed — audience prefers A/B choices over open-ended
- Thread needs to be max 4 parts (completion rate drops after 3)
The 15-minute rule: If planning takes more than 15 minutes, you're overthinking it. Pick topics that match the news cycle, your recent experience, or questions your audience has asked. Don't wait for inspiration — it comes from doing, not planning.
Batch drafting (the productivity hack that actually works)
The most productive pattern I've found:
- Planning session (15 min): Pick all topics for the next 3-5 days
- Drafting session (60-90 min): Write rough drafts for ALL of them in one sitting
- Edit one per slot: Polish → schedule → publish
Why this works: the context switch between "what should I write about?" and "actually writing" is where most time gets wasted. Separating them eliminates the blank-page paralysis.
Real numbers: Batch drafting 8 pieces takes me ~90 minutes. Writing them one at a time, scattered across 4 days, takes ~3 hours total. Same output, half the time.
Draft Pipeline
Every piece lives in exactly one state:

The 7-day draft rule: If a draft sits untouched for 7 days, you have two options: publish it rough or delete it. There is no "I'll get to it eventually." I've watched 23 drafts pile up and published zero of them because the editing backlog felt overwhelming. Don't let this happen to you.

Cadence Guide
From 6 weeks of daily publishing, here's what I'd recommend:

The #1 mistake: Starting at daily cadence and burning out in week 2. Pick a cadence you can sustain for 3 months. If that's twice a week, that's fine — consistency compounds.
The #2 mistake: Posting more when engagement is low. If your last 10 posts got no traction, the problem isn't volume — it's either format, audience targeting, or distribution. More of the same won't fix it.
Engagement Patterns (from real data)
These are patterns I've observed from 27 posts over 6 days. Your mileage may vary, but the trends are consistent across most platforms:

Questions that give options > open-ended questions. "Which would you choose: A or B?" gets 3x the replies of "What do you think about X?"

First line determines everything. 80% of people decide to engage or scroll based on the first 10 words. Don't waste them on "Here's a thread about..."

Links hurt reach. Every platform deprioritizes posts with external links. If you need to share a link, make the text valuable enough to stand alone. Save links for 1 in 4 posts max.

Same format fatigue is real. My engagement dropped 40% during a 3-day stretch of only posting single tweets. Adding a thread broke the pattern and engagement recovered.

Morning posts get impressions, evening posts get engagement. People browse in the morning (scrolling) and engage in the evening (responding). Schedule hot takes for morning, questions for evening.

The 3-post rule: If 3 consecutive posts underperform, change ONE variable (format, topic, time, or voice). Don't change everything at once — you won't know what fixed it.
Safety Guardrails
- Daily post cap: Set
maxPerDayin your tracker and check before every post. Exceeding platform-specific limits can trigger throttling that takes days to recover from. - No drafts with private info: Before publishing, scan for names, emails, internal project details, or API keys that accidentally made it into a draft.
- Archive don't delete: When killing a draft, move it to an
archivedstatus instead of removing it. You might want the idea later.
